Somalia Coalition for Education for all conducts Research for Personnel: Assessing the Quality of Work Life of Primary School Teachers. November 2014

Somalia Coalition for Education for all conducted a "Research for Personnel: Assessing the Quality of Work Life of Primary School Teachers" in Galkayo city, Mudug
region. Somalia Coalition team in Puntland conducted this assessment over 20 selected primary schools during the period 24 and 30 November 2014
This assessment was conducted in response to the discussion forum over policies of teacher recruitment and retention that EFASOM held between 15 and 16 August2014, the participants agreed upon: To do assessment for quality of
teachers in the region; and to upgrade the knowledge of teachers in
primary schools. 
The assessment included face-to-face interview with teachers in order to collect primary data of the quality of teachers in the area. So far, the ream observed from the visited schools that there is shortage of female teachers in the area although pupils' ratio of boys to girls can be indicated as satisfactory. Also, it was rare to see children with special needs at the visited primary schools.
